Cambodia’s Malys Angkor has been crowned the World’s Best Rice 2025 at The Rice Trader (TRT) World Rice Conference, held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from Nov. 7 to 9.

This marks the seventh time that Cambodian rice has received this prestigious international award, following previous wins in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2024.

“Winning this award is the result of the hard work of Cambodian farmers who have joined forces to produce high-quality rice, leading to international recognition of its value and excellence,” the Ministry of Commerce underlined in a statement.

The World Rice Conference is an annual global event that brings together rice industry leaders and stakeholders involved in production, trade, logistics, and consumption.

Cambodia’s continued success at this international platform has further promoted the country’s rice brand in global markets, boosting confidence among international buyers.

According to a report from the Cambodia Rice Federation (CRF), the Kingdom exported 596,341 tonnes of milled rice in the first nine months of 2025, an increase of 33.7 percent compared to 445,913 tonnes during the same period last year.

The export generated $408 million in revenue between January and September 2025, up 21 percent from $335 million recorded in 2024.

In addition, Cambodia earned approximately $1.209 billion from border-traded paddy rice, totalling 5.24 million tonnes during the same period. AKP
