By Giselle P. Jordan

MANILA, Philippines — The price of rice decreased while that of meat increased in the first week of July,  according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Regular milled rice had a national average retail price of P41.57 per kilogram (kg) July 1-5. This was lower than its average retail price of P42.53/kg from June 15 to 17 and P42.74/kg from June 1 to 5.

Dressed chicken had an average retail price of P219.19/kg at the national level in early July. This was an increase from its P216.70/kg and P214.49/kg average retail prices in mid- and early June, respectively.

Beef and pork prices also rose, except for pork liempo, which had a 10-centavo decrease in its national average retail price.
