Pakistan’s seafood, meat, and rice exports see growth in first 9 months of FY2024-25.

Pakistan’s food exports posted a modest increase during the first nine months of the current financial year, driven by a notable rise in seafood, meat, and rice shipments, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Seafood exports rose by 8.15% from July to March 2024-25, with 151,787 metric tons of fish and fish products valued at $322.906 million exported, compared to 145,671 metric tons worth $289.568 million during the same period last year.

Meat and meat product exports also saw a slight increase of 0.99%, reaching $391.118 million with a total volume of 90,578 metric tons, as opposed to 93,587 metric tons valued at $387.279 million exported during the corresponding period last year.

Basmati rice exports surged to 663,980 metric tons, generating $676.967 million in revenue, compared to 545,223 metric tons worth $622.347 million during the same period of FY2023-24.

However, exports of other rice varieties saw a marginal increase in volume but a decline in value. Over 4.017 million tons were exported, bringing in $2.080 billion, slightly up from 4.011 million tons but down in value from $2.308 billion last year.

Overall, food group exports grew by 1.62%, totaling $5.749 billion, compared to $5.658 billion during the same period last year. In contrast, food imports declined by 2.74%, falling from $6.290 billion to $6.118 billion during the nine-month period.
