Recall of Gold Star Basmati Rice Due to Excessive Pesticide Levels.

Riso basmati prodotto in Pakistan, pesticidi oltre i limiti: richiamo del Ministero della Salute.

The Ministry of Health has recently issued a recall notice for a batch of basmati rice sold under the Gold Star brand. The reason for the recall is the presence of pesticides in the product, which exceeds the legal limits set for food safety. The rice in question is packaged in 1 kg bags, with a best before date of June 13, 2026, which corresponds to the batch number affected by the recall. The basmati rice was produced by the company Sarwar Cheema & Sons in a facility located in Pakistan. The product was distributed in the Italian market by Fresh Tropical Srl by Jawad, a company specializing in ethnic products based at via A. da Giussano 22, in Corbetta, in the metropolitan city of Milan. As a precautionary measure and to protect consumer health, the company has advised not to consume the basmati rice with the above-mentioned best before date. Consumers who may have packages of rice from this batch are invited to return it to the point of sale where it was purchased, to obtain a refund or a replacement product. The recall has been activated to avoid health risks associated with consuming the product, as the excess of pesticides could have negative consequences for the body. Health authorities recommend that anyone who has purchased the product carefully check the indicated batch and follow the company’s instructions to return the product without any risk. Unfortunately, such recalls are not uncommon in the food sector and serve as a safety measure to protect consumers from potential contamination or anomalies in products placed on the market.
