Lahore : Following a decrease in wheat prices, the provincial capital Lahore is now witnessing a decline in rice prices as well.

Market sources report that wholesale prices of various types of rice are dropping. In the wholesale market, the price of a 25 kg sack of rice has decreased by up to 1,200 PKR. Over the past month, rice prices have been gradually falling.

In the wholesale market, the price per kilogram of rice has decreased by 40 to 50 PKR. While retail prices are also falling, retailers are still selling rice at higher prices.

In the retail market, rice has become 20 to 30 PKR per kilogram cheaper. First-grade old rice is being sold at 350 PKR per kilogram while third-grade rice is being sold at 250 PKR per kilogram.

Consumers are demanding that the full benefit of the price reduction be passed on to them.
