Why is the price of rice rising even though the supply is normal?

After the upward trend of last January, the price of rice increased again. Traders say that although the supply of rice is normal during Ramadan, all types of rice have increased by Tk 2-6 per kg. According to agricultural economist Dr. Jahangir Alam, the government may take steps to reduce prices by increasing supply until new rice crops up.
