JAKARTA – Perum Bulog ensures the availability of rice and cooking oil stocks, in a safe and sufficient condition to meet the needs of the community until the end of the year.

The public is also urged to remain calm and not to make excessive purchases or panic buying.

Director of Perum Bulog, Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, said that currently the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) stock held by Bulog is at a very strong level.

“The rice stock controlled by Bulog is currently at a very strong level, namely around 3.74 million tons. With the harvest in various regions and the absorption efforts we continue to make, we project that the stock will increase and by the end of March it can reach a range of 4.5 to 5 million tons,” he said in a statement in Jakarta, Monday, March 9.

In addition to rice, Bulog also ensures that the supply of cooking oil is maintained. This is supported by the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policy from the Ministry of Trade which sets an allocation for Bulog of around 46 million liters of Minyakita every month.

With this condition, Rizal emphasized that the availability of rice and cooking oil for the community is ensured to be safe and secure until the end of the year.

“With strong rice stocks and support for cooking oil supplies through the DMO policy, the public does not need to worry about food availability. We ensure that supplies are available and sufficient to meet the needs of the community,” he said.

Based on field monitoring, the prices of various staple commodities are relatively stable and under control in the market.

Therefore, Rizal asked the public to shop wisely according to their needs and not make excessive purchases.

“There is no need to panic in the community. National food stocks are in a safe condition and the government continues to ensure their availability. We invite the public to remain calm and shop reasonably,” he concluded.
