Jordan bans export of rice, sugar, vegetable oils
The Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, Youssef Al-Shammali, announced the prohibiting of exporting of rice, sugar, and vegetable oils – In response to recommendations by the Food Security Council.
Vegetable oils banned from export include corn, sunflower, palm, and soybean oils.
The Food Security Council recommended halting the export of these essential commodities due to the increase in shipping costs resulting from the Red Sea shipping crisis, caused by the Houthi targeting of ships associated with the Israeli occupation.
